How to use the calculator

  1. Enter your gross annual salary.
  2. Enter how many hours per week make up a full-time position in your field.
  3. The calculator shows hourly, monthly and daily pay based on this.

How the pay is calculated

Annual hours = Hours per week × 52
Hourly pay = Annual salary ÷ Annual hours
Monthly pay = Annual salary ÷ 12  ·  Daily pay = Annual salary ÷ 260

37.5 hours a week is a common standard for many office positions, but this varies. Shift work often has a shorter work week, sometimes around 35 hours, while some industries use 40 hours as the baseline. Check your employment contract for the exact figure.

Daily pay is calculated using 260 working days per year (5 days × 52 weeks), a common rule of thumb regardless of actual holidays and vacation.

Note: All amounts above are gross pay, i.e. before tax.

Frequently asked questions

Why 37.5 hours per week as the default?

37.5 hours is common for office workers in many countries, partly because a lot of contracts include a short unpaid lunch break within the workday. Other industries, especially shift work, often have a shorter agreed work week, sometimes around 35 hours.

How does a part-time position affect the hourly rate?

The hourly rate itself isn't changed by your employment percentage — it's calculated from what a full-time position would pay. With part-time work, it's only the number of hours you actually work, and thus your total pay, that becomes lower.

Is this gross or net pay?

All figures in this calculator are gross, i.e. pay before tax and other deductions.
