Privacy
Kalkulo requires no login, and its calculators run in your browser. The site uses third-party services for purposes including visitor statistics and advertising. This page explains data processing, local storage and consent choices.
What we don't do
- We use no cookies of our own — neither for tracking nor anything else (Google AdSense may set its own — see "Ads" below).
- We require no registration or login.
- All calculations happen locally in your browser — the numbers you enter in a calculator are never sent to our servers.
- We don't sell data ourselves, and don't share data with third parties beyond what's needed for showing ads (see "Ads" below) and the analytics tool (see below).
Local storage in your browser
The homepage remembers which calculator you last visited, so it can show it again next time you come back ("continue where you left off"). This is stored using localStorage — not a cookie — and contains only the name and address of the calculator, entirely within your own browser. It's never sent to our servers or any third party, and disappears if you clear your browser's local storage for kalkulo.app.
Analytics
We use GoatCounter for visitor statistics, including page views, referrers, browser/device types, screen size, language and country. The service does not use cookies or other storage in visitors' browsers for these statistics. According to its documentation, IP addresses and browser information are processed temporarily in memory for up to eight hours, including to distinguish repeat visits; IP addresses are not stored in its database. Kalkulo's settings, checked on 8 September 2026, have individual-pageview storage disabled and session counting enabled. Aggregate statistics have no automatic deletion deadline in the current configuration. Data is hosted in Germany and Finland. See GoatCounter's privacy information for details.
Third-party resources loaded
The site is static and has no backend of its own. The fonts are self-hosted — they live in our own assets folder and aren't loaded from Google or other third parties. Four exceptions exist:
- NAV's base amount API (g.nav.no) — only on the Norwegian sick-pay, unemployment-benefit and parental-leave calculators, to fetch the current base amount (G) directly from NAV's official, open API. None of the information you enter in the calculator is sent to NAV — the call only fetches one public figure.
- hvakosterstrommen.no's electricity-price API — on the Norwegian electricity and EV-charging-cost calculators, to fetch today's average spot price for the selected price area (NO1–NO5). Your selected price area is included in the call URL, but your consumption and other figures you enter are never sent there — the call only fetches publicly available electricity prices for the area.
- GoatCounter (goatcounter.com) — on all pages on the main site (not the embed widgets), see "Analytics" above.
- Google AdSense and Google's consent service (googlesyndication.com, fundingchoicesmessages.google.com and related domains) — on pages where ad code is enabled, excluding embed widgets and calculators with ads disabled during quality review. See "Ads" below.
Ads (Google AdSense)
The site is prepared for advertising via Google AdSense. Whether ads are actually displayed depends on factors including Google's approval and applicable consent choices. The goal is to cover running costs (server, hosting, ongoing development), not to maximize ad revenue.
Google may process device/browser information and use cookies or other local storage for advertising. Kalkulo has a published European regulations message in Google's consent service. For visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, consent must be obtained where required. When the message is displayed, use its choices to manage your consent.
Consent to ad personalization is different from consent to cookies or other storage. Non-personalized ads may also use cookies, including for frequency capping and reporting. Refusing consent therefore does not automatically mean that non-personalized ads will be shown; any ads that can be served depend on your consent choices and Google's rules. When Google's "Privacy and cookie settings" link appears at the bottom of the page, you can use it to reopen the consent message and change or withdraw consent. If the control is missing or does not work, contact us. This text does not confirm that a consent message has been displayed in your particular browser.

Security
The site sends a Content-Security-Policy header that restricts which domains the site itself can load scripts, styles and data from (only ourselves, plus the services mentioned above), along with a couple of other standard security headers. This is an extra layer of defense on top of what's described above — it doesn't change what's collected.
Embed feature
Calculators embedded on other websites via our embed code work the same way — no data is sent to Kalkulo.
