Enter your Norwegian grades (1–6 scale) and work out your unweighted grade average and grade points. You can also switch to a weighted average for higher education or other needs.
All grades count equally.
On a standard Norwegian upper-secondary diploma (vitnemål), every grade counts equally. In weighted mode, a subject with weight 5 counts five times as much as a subject with weight 1; the weight could for example be course hours or credit points.
For a standard upper-secondary diploma, all grades are added together and divided by the number of grades. Each grade counts equally, and grade points are the average multiplied by 10.
It depends on what you're applying with. For a standard upper-secondary diploma, grade points are a simple, unweighted average of all grades × 10. For transcripts from higher education (like a bachelor's degree), the average is instead weighted by credit points/scope — the same principle this calculator uses.
Grade points are the grade average multiplied by 10. The grade average (1–6) is what you typically see on the diploma, while grade points are the number format used in admission point calculations.
Course hours are listed in the subject's curriculum (weekly/annual hours), and are often shown on your diploma or competence certificate. If you don't have the exact number, you can use the number of weekly hours as a reasonable approximation.
