Convert between hourly, monthly and annual salary, and see roughly what you're left with net after tax in Norway.
The conversion between salary types uses these relationships:
Net salary is then calculated using the same simplified model as the income tax calculator — the National Insurance contribution, bracket tax and tax on ordinary income are subtracted from gross income.
The calculator also shows what happens with a 5 % raise. Because Norway has a progressive tax system, the tax on the increase itself (the marginal tax rate) is normally higher than the average tax on your whole salary — which often comes as a surprise.
We use 52 weeks as a simplification to calculate annual salary from an hourly rate. In practice the number of working weeks varies somewhat depending on vacation and public holidays, but 52 weeks gives a good estimate.
Your payslip accounts for your actual deductions, tax card and any other factors this simplified calculator doesn't know about.
