Estimate what your car is worth today, based on its original price, age and mileage.
The calculator uses a stepped model where the car loses the most value in its first year, somewhat less in the following years, and even less as it gets older. If you drive significantly more or less than the average (approx. 12,000 km a year), the value is adjusted up or down accordingly.
Typically around 20 %, according to figures often cited by Norwegian car-industry sources. After that, the annual percentage decline eases somewhat, but the car keeps losing value every year.
A car that has driven significantly more than the average for its age (about 12,000 km/year) is normally more worn and worth somewhat less, while a car with low mileage for its age is typically worth somewhat more.
Electric cars can have a different depreciation pattern than petrol and diesel cars, partly because battery technology is evolving quickly and EV tax rules have changed over time. This calculator uses the same simplified model for all car types, so the result for EVs should be read with even more caution.
No, not alone. Use the result as a starting point, but check actual listings for comparable cars (make, model, model year, mileage and condition) to set a realistic price.
