QR Code Generator
Create a QR code from a URL, text or message — generated directly in your browser, nothing is sent to any server.
How to use the QR code generator
- Type or paste the URL or text you want to turn into a QR code.
- The QR code is generated automatically as you type.
- Press "Download as PNG" to save the code as an image, ready to use on posters, receipts or websites.
How much text can I use?
This generator supports up to around 100 characters (the exact limit depends on which characters you use). That's plenty of room for a normal web address, a phone number or a short message. If you need room for much more text, other QR tools built specifically for that exist.
Want a simpler, less detailed QR code?
The longer the text you enter, the more "modules" (the small black/white squares) the QR code needs to hold the data — the indicator below the code shows which version and grid size your current text produces. A simpler code with fewer modules is easier to scan from a distance, holds up better at a small print size, and is more error-tolerant if it gets slightly dirty or damaged.
If you have a long web address, consider shortening it with a URL shortener (several free services exist for this) before pasting it here — a short link like https://short.example/abc123 produces a noticeably simpler QR code than a long, full URL with lots of parameters.
Frequently asked questions
Does the QR code expire, or stop working?
No. The QR code is a direct, static representation of the text you entered — it never expires and doesn't depend on any service to keep working. If you change the link it points to (for example if it points to a page you later remove), the QR code itself will still work, but the link it points to will no longer exist.
Can I use the QR code in print (a poster, brochure)?
Yes. Download the PNG image and insert it into your document. Use a large enough print size (at least a couple of centimeters wide) and good contrast, so the camera can easily read it from a distance.
Why doesn't the code scan if I paste in very long text?
This generator has an upper length limit (see above) to keep the code easy for cameras to read. If you enter too much text, an error message is shown instead of an invalid code.
