Why does unit price matter?
The bigger package isn't always cheaper per unit — sometimes a smaller package is actually cheaper per kilo or liter, especially during sales or when the manufacturer has changed the package size. Unit price (often shown as price per kg or per liter on store shelf labels) is the most precise basis for comparison.
Frequently asked questions
Do the quantities need to be in the same unit?
Yes — enter both in grams, both in milliliters, or both in number of items. Comparing grams against milliliters makes the unit price meaningless.
What if the products have slightly different quality?
The calculator only compares price per unit, not quality — use the result as one of several decision factors, not the only one.
Can I use this for sales in the store?
Yes, that's a common use — check whether a "sale" actually gives a lower unit price than the regular package, or if it's just a smaller package at the same unit price.
