What is Lorem Ipsum?
Lorem Ipsum is standard placeholder text in the design and printing industry, based on a Latin text excerpt from the 1st century BC. It's used because it looks like natural running text (a realistic mix of short and long words) without drawing attention to actual content — letting a designer or developer focus on layout, typography, and visual hierarchy before the real text content is ready.
This generator draws randomly from a fixed set of classic Lorem Ipsum words, and the first text always starts with the familiar opening "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit." for recognizability.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Lorem Ipsum text mean anything?
No, in its modern form it's meaningless — it originates from a reworked excerpt of a Latin text, used purely for its appearance, not its content.
Why does the text always start with "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet …"?
It's the traditional, recognizable opening used in nearly every Lorem Ipsum generator, and we follow the same convention for the first paragraph or sentence.
Can I use this text on a published website?
Lorem Ipsum is meant as temporary placeholder text during development, not as permanent content — replace it with real text before the page is published.
