How to use the final paycheck calculator

  1. Enter your monthly salary, the number of remaining working days in the notice period, and the number of earned vacation days you haven't used.
  2. Choose the holiday pay rate that applies to you.
  3. The calculator shows an estimated final paycheck, split into the pay portion and the holiday pay portion.

How the final paycheck is calculated

Daily pay = Monthly salary × 12 ÷ 260
Pay for remaining days = Daily pay × remaining days
Holiday pay = (Vacation days ÷ 25) × (Monthly salary × 12) × (Holiday pay rate ÷ 100)
Final paycheck = Pay for remaining days + Holiday pay

Daily pay is calculated from 260 working days a year (5 days a week × 52 weeks), a common simplified divisor in Norway. The holiday pay portion uses 25 as the standard number of working days in a vacation year, and works out what share of the annual salary the earned vacation days represent.

Frequently asked questions

Is this an exact final paycheck?

No, this is a simplified estimate for guidance. Your actual final paycheck depends on your collective agreement, the actual holiday-pay base (which is normally calculated from actual income last year, not your current monthly salary), and any agreed supplements or deductions. Always check the actual payslip from your employer.

Why is pay divided by 260 days?

260 is a common simplified estimate of the number of working days in a year (5 days a week × 52 weeks), and is often used to work out a daily rate from an annual or monthly salary in practical calculations like this one.

Do I get holiday pay in the final paycheck even if I haven't taken vacation?

Yes. Earned holiday pay for vacation days you haven't used should be paid out when your employment ends, regardless of whether you've used the vacation days or not.
